Born in Germany and raised in Australia, Mars Lasar is a genre-spanning composer and keyboardist whose work bridges electronic, jazz, pop, world, ambient, and rock. Trained in classical and jazz piano from an early age, he began composing professionally as a teenager and quickly developed a reputation for blending traditional musicianship with cutting-edge technology.

Over the course of more than three decades, Lasar has released over 30 solo albums and built an extensive portfolio of production credits. His music has been featured in television and film, with placements on shows like 24, Law & Order: SVU, America’s Got Talent, and Baywatch, as well as in films such as Jason’s Lyric and The 6th Man. His early solo work, including the breakthrough album Olympus—used during CBS’s coverage of the 1992 Winter Olympic Games—established him as an innovator within New Age and electronic music. Albums like The Eleventh Hour, Karma, and Olympic National Park pushed stylistic boundaries, incorporating elements of dance, industrial, and world beat.

Beyond his solo career, Lasar has collaborated with a wide range of artists, from Seal and Siedah Garrett to Herbie Hancock and t.A.T.u. His work as a producer and songwriter has earned him platinum records and recognition in publications such as Billboard, Spin, and The LA Times. A pioneer in digital sequencing and sampling, he also played a role in the early development of Fairlight Instruments, whose groundbreaking technology shaped modern electronic music production.

Lasar continues to explore new territory with each release, from meditative soundscapes to cinematic electronic hybrids. His albums, including Coastal Escape, Utopia, and Multiverse, showcase a career defined by constant reinvention. In addition to music, he is an accomplished fine art photographer, with his visual work exhibited in galleries and collections around the world.
